OVERVIEW

The Bridgestone Potenza RE050A II RFT is a performance and high performance, summer tire manufactured for passenger vehicles. This specific model of the Potenza RE050A was specially made for select vehicles of BMW's sport package.

The tire has great summer weather traction and it grips the road well in dry and wet weather thanks to its high grip tire compound and special asymmetric tread pattern. The tire is not recommended for use in colder winter temperatures, as it loses its excellent traction in such weather, and has no grip on snow and ice. The circumferential grooves help resist hydroplaning by eliminating water from beneath the tire footprint. This also increases the model's wet traction, making it safer to use in such weather.

The model's reinforced sidewalls provide temporary limited mobility for 50 miles at up to 50 mph in case of air pressure loss. If the tire gets punctured the driver will not be stranded on the side of the road. Instead, they will be able to reach a safe destination where they can change or repair the tire. Run flat tires are made for vehicles that have no space for spare tires. As run flat tires are made with reinforcements and from a heavier tire compound, they cannot be mixed with regular tires.

The tire offers a longer lasting tread life as it prevents irregular wear across the tread area. The continuous rib located next to the inner shoulder of the asymmetric pattern makes the tire wear even by equally distributing the driving force along the tread. The even distribution takes the pressure off of one part of the tire and avoids uneven wear. As the wear is even for a longer period of time, the tire's usability and its tread life are increased.

The Potenza RE050A II RFT's internal structure features twin steel belts spirally wrapped with nylon cord. This enhancement increases the driving stability of the model against the external driving forces affecting it. The better stability improves the model's handling. It becomes more responsive to the driver's commands and allows the driver to effortlessly control it in all summer conditions.

This specific tire is marked with OE as it is the original equipment tire of select vehicles.

Manufacturers recommend changing tires every 10 years. As long as tires are properly stored before they are sold, the year of their manufacture will not shorten their service life.
