OVERVIEW

The Bridgestone Turanza EL42 RFT (*) is a touring, all season tire manufactured for passenger vehicles and SUVs. It is the original equipment model of select BMW vehicles.

This tire was manufactured using Bridgestone's run flat technology. The reinforced sidewall supports the vehicle's weight after the loss of air pressure, allowing temporarily extended mobility for 50 miles and up to 50 mph. The tire was manufactured with a special heat-resistant rubber, which also adds to the model's run flat capabilities.

All weather traction and road grip are guaranteed by the symmetric tread design with the open-slotted shoulders. The lateral and circumferential grooves in the tread pattern eliminate water from beneath the footprint of the tire, efficiently resisting hydroplaning. The tire performs well in light winter conditions as well, due to the special siping design in the tread.

The large rectangular tread blocks in the tread design provide great dry weather handling and steering response. This precise steering response makes the tire safer. This model also has great high speed stability, due to the spiral wrap construction that maintains the tire's shape in all circumstances.

The Turanza EL42 RFT (*)'s steel belt construction enhances its high speed durability and provides resistance against accidental punctures. This stabilization of the tread area also prevents irregular wear on the tires, which elongates its tread life. This reinforced structure, with the polyester cord body plies, reduces the vibrations felt in the vehicle by maximizing the tire's road contact area, making the tire follow the road surface in all conditions.

Manufacturers recommend changing tires every 10 years. As long as tires are properly stored before they are sold, the year of their manufacture will not shorten their service life.
