OVERVIEW

The Bridgestone Turanza ER300 RFT (*) is a high performance, summer tire manufactured for passenger vehicles. This model is the original equipment tire of select BMW vehicles.

The tire is a run flat model. It was manufactured with a reinforced internal structure which allows the tire to be driven on when air pressure leaves it. In this state the structure ensures a limited temporary performance for 50 miles up to the speed of 50 mph. This prevents the vehicle to be stranded on the side of the road, and allows the driver to safely arrive at a close by destination to fix or change the damaged tire. These tires cannot be mixed with non-run flat models on the same vehicle.

This tire model has excellent traction and provides easy handling in wet and dry road conditions, but it will not perform in winter weather. The asymmetric tread pattern's outside shoulder offers enhanced dry performance, while the inside tread enables the tire to have great wet weather traction. The lateral and circumferential grooves channel the water from beneath the footprint of the tire, effectively resisting dangerous hydroplaning situations.

This tire provides a longer lasting tread life, as Bridgestone's new low-wearing tread compound offers a sturdier tread which wears evenly. The steel belt construction also adds to the tire's durability and it becomes resistant to punctures. Furthermore, equally distributing the driving force ensures the tire wear out evenly.

The tire's stiff round tread on its shoulder also reduces the road noise, by keeping constant contact between the road and the tire, offering a quiet and smooth drive. This increased road contact enables the tire to respond to the steering requirements of the driver quickly, which makes the tire's handling more precise, helping the driver to adequately respond to different situations.

The Turanza ER300 RFT (*) is also fuel efficient. The manufacturer's Ecopia technology and the special tread pattern reduce the tire's rolling resistance. This lowers the fuel consumption of the tire and the CO2 emissions of the vehicle, making the tire economic and environmentally friendly.

Manufacturers recommend changing tires every 10 years. As long as tires are properly stored before they are sold, the year of their manufacture will not shorten their service life.
