OVERVIEW

The Continental ExtremeContact DW Tuned is a high performance summer tire manufactured for performance passenger and sport utility vehicles.

The tire has first-rate summer weather traction thanks to its high grip silica-based tire compound and the tread pattern that grips the road well in dry and wet weather. The tire is not suited for winter weather driving as the tire compound loses its excellent road gripping ability in winter conditions. The tread pattern, with the circumferential grooves, increases the wet weather traction and lower the chances of hydroplaning by eliminating water from below the tire. In this manner the tire offers extra safety in wet and dry conditions.

The tread also features Tuned Performance Indicators. The letters “DW” are visible on the second tread rib from the outer shoulder. When both letters are visible it means that the tire has enough tread to perform well in dry and wet conditions. However, when the letter “W” disappears and only the “D” is visible, the tire is no longer safe to use in wet weather, only on dry surfaces. This makes sure the driver knows when the tire loses its great wet weather traction. Once the “W” disappears, the tire is dangerous to use in wet weather.

The tread pattern improves the handling and controllability of the model. The shoulder tread block pattern and the continuous outer rib increases the steering responsiveness and precision. The better steering allows the tire to swiftly and accurately reply to the driver's instructions, while also offering great road feedback. The shoulder tread block design also upgrades the cornering ability and power. They provide additional biting edges during such conditions, enhancing the maneuvering safety.

The ExtremeContact DW Tuned provides a comfortable high speed drive. The internal structure's twin steel belt reinforcement enhances the durability and lowers the road vibrations. The tire maintains its shape under the high speed driving pressure, which enhances the performing capability. The reinforced structure maintains constant road contact which lowers the road vibrations felt in the cabin of the vehicle, making the driving experience more comfortable.

Manufacturers recommend changing tires every 10 years. As long as tires are properly stored before they are sold, the year of their manufacture will not shorten their service life.
