OVERVIEW

The Continental ProContact RX SSR is a touring, all season tire model manufactured for passenger vehicles. Continental offers a 45,000 mile warranty with this tire model.

The tire offers excellent all weather traction and it grips the road well in dry, wet and winter weather. The tread pattern and the silica-based tire compound are the reason for its exceptional traction. The tread pattern's circumferential grooves actively avoid hydroplaning by eliminating water from beneath the tire footprint. The better year round traction improves the tire's safety in all conditions.

The model is a run flat model. The Self-Supporting Run-flat technology enables the tire to be driven on after air pressure loss for 50 miles up to 50 mph. This allows the tire's limited temporary performance once air pressure leaves the tire due to a damage. In this manner, the vehicle will not be stranded on the side of the road, instead, they will be able to safely drive to a nearby location, where the damaged tire can be changed or fixed.

The tread pattern provides additional biting edges in all weather situations that create friction at the moment of braking. This shortens the model's braking distance. The shoulder tread blocks maintain constant contact between the tire and the road enhancing the cornering ability and power. The increased cornering, maneuvering and braking stability allow the tire to perform to its greatest capabilities without difficulty.

A silica-based tire compound was used in the manufacture of the vehicle. This compound decreases the rolling resistance by lowering the tire's overall weight. The lower rolling resistance succeeds in lessening the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of the vehicle, as the vehicle needs less energy to keep the tires in motion. As a result, the tire is environmentally friendly and cost and fuel efficient.

The ProContact RX SSR offers a comfortable and quiet driving experience. The model's reinforced structure and excellent durability absorbs the shock of driving when the tire is in transit and reduces the road vibrations felt in the cabin of the vehicle. The sound-absorbing foam on the inner lining of the tread lessens the road noise by channeling the pattern noise generated through the foam.

Manufacturers recommend changing tires every 10 years. As long as tires are properly stored before they are sold, the year of their manufacture will not shorten their service life.
