The Sumitomo Encounter AT is an all terrain, all season tire manufactured for SUVs and light trucks. Sumitomo offers a 60,000 mile treadwear warranty with this model.

The tire offers exceptional all terrain performance. The tread pattern design and the all terrain durable tire compound work together to increase the soft, loose and uneven terrain traction. The design features independent tread blocks, open shoulders, wide grooves and an optimized siping design that firmly grips the road surface in all conditions. The staggered tread blocks also eliminate mud and snow and eject rocks stuck between the tread elements to prevent stone retention and to avoid the footprint from being blocked from its contact with the road surface. The better traction and excellent road gripping ability ensures a secure performance.

The tread pattern with the added siping detail and the independent tread blocks ensures excellent all weather traction. The special tread elements find firm grip on the road surface in dry, wet and winter weather road conditions. The durable compound also ensures a safer performance as it maintains its flexibility even in colder temperatures. The special in-block sipes enhance the winter weather road grip, especially on snow and ice-covered road surfaces. The four zigzag circumferential grooves prevent hydroplaning by dispersing water and slush from below the tire's footprint to guarantee a safer all weather driving experience.

The tire promotes a longer lasting tread life. The special durable compound and the optimized footprint upgrade the tread life and the tire's usability. The durable compound resists tread wear, which slows the tread wear rate down significantly. The optimized footprint manages to evenly distribute the driving pressure.
